Good share, fascinating piece of Glagow’s heritage!

I've done a video on this hospital recently and it's strange even to see how it's changed over 12 years, even less life than it had here. Buildings torn down, the signs gone, little of the interior left, even the goalposts gone!

How could they justify demolition of the main building? I explored it in April 2008 and it was in relatively good shape.

When I was a kid we would get a Gray Dunn caramel wafer as a treat after the gas or lekky man came to empty the meter & my mam got a rebate. 🤣🤣🤣👍👍

A friend used this as a background and photographed some of his punk friends with amazing shots of mohicans, piercings, tattoos, attitude etc., as part of his portfolio. Another friend, sadly now deceased, was an industrial historian and told me that some of the ironwork is repurposed tram rails from the horse drawn tram days. There was something unique in their manufacture- they were short and may have been cast as opposed to rolled. I think one of the locations of these rails may have been on the abutments of a bridge by the railway, inserted later as strengthening.

Right dude dm me asap, I worked there as security and the janitor of that place showed me a secret room in the basement in boiler room in the corner there is an alien head of some sort carved in the stone !

Seemed to be full of neds and deers. No wonder it went out of business.

The Big Idea now has a big fence round it plus a lot of cameras and a security man on site when I visited on a Saturday.

It's been 6 years, looking back at that place, so much has been done to it to restore its interior and exterior. I think most rooms have been done except for several hallways, the central tower, basement and the grand hall still need major works. And they have yet to rebuild and restore that great bay window.

My mum was in this hospital 1963 died 1972 overdose to central nervous system.I just turned 13 yrs old when she died 10 days before my 13th birthday.youst to visit her every weekend when allowed brings bk memories.she wasn’t allowed out of hospital so we had to visit ❤

What are you doing these days?

This place is magical. I have a piece of music cooking in the oven that's inspired by this place. I love brutalist architecture that seems so inspired by a lot of the WWI era bunkers and other concrete structures of that time.

I used to pass this chimney every single day atleast twice for decades. Coming home the chimney was the first thing you would see as you passed inverkip . When you saw it you knew you were almost home. It was kinda sad seeing it demolished.

So much of Scotland's heritage is unfortunately left to rot 😔

Great video do you think that with some rumours that I have been hearing do you think that the louden Castle theme park will reopen one day it is a shame because it was an great theme park the best one in Scotland hope that it will reopen one day

I worked there, in Carrick Cottage. There were 9 wards, called cottages, laid out in alphabetical order: Annan, Banchory, Carrick, Darrel, Ettrick, Fairlie, Glendale, Huntly, Islay. I wonder where the patients went when it closed. It was a special needs hospital. Carrick had foam furniture and Perspex windows. It was a great place to work
